Sage Cranberry Parsley Mocktail Drink
This combo just came to me after finishing making my thanksgiving turkey. Left over herbs that I used for my turkey ingredients and stuffing needed to be put into good use. Either I freeze them for soup making later or I can just add them to the water I was about to boil for my tea. Sure enough I added parsley, cranberry, sage to my water. The cranberry was just enough to give this drink a pink color. What I like is it was nice to drink warm or icy cold. The flavor of sage overpowered the other herbs, which is great.
Overall health benefits
I do not need to remind you of the many healthy property of sage especially it calming effect on nerves.
Parsley is a good source of folic acid, one of the most important B vitamins. Very low in calories yet rich in important nutrients, such as vitamins A, K, and C, parsley if good for the body.
High in nutrients, sage is loaded with antioxidants and has antimicrobial effects that can neutralize microbes that promote dental plaque. Sage also helps ease menopausal symptoms like: hot flashes, excessive sweating, vaginal dryness.
Cranberry is a superfood that is very high in antioxidant. It has properties that can help against liver disease, can lower blood pressure, improve eyesight and cardiovascular health.
Anyway this drink doesn’t need a sweetener but if you want to satisfy your sweet tooth, feel free to use date fruit or your favorite sweetener. I love my tea unsweetened so I was fine with this drink as is. You can boil some date fruit with your herbs to sweetened it up. So I drank mine as hot tee and since I got leftovers, the next day I added ice to it. You can immediately feel the benefit cooling benefit of sage aroma.
